NASA says the meteor that exploded over northeast Ohio on Tuesday was actually a small, seven-ton asteroid.

Videos show a huge fireball streaking across the morning sky as it broke up over Medina County, causing a sonic boom heard as far away as Pennsylvania and New York.

The asteroid was traveling about 45,000 miles per hour before splitting up, scattering fragments across southern Medina County.

Nearby residents are now scouring the area for pieces.
