Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) issued a sharp response after President Donald Trump mocked her Somali heritage and accused her of trying to “tell us how to run our country."

During a Fox News interview on Monday (November 10), Trump took aim at Omar, the first Africa-born refugee to serve in Congress, while also insulting Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) as a “low-IQ person.”

“I look at somebody that comes from Somalia, who, where they don’t have anything — they don’t have police, they don’t have military, they don’t have anything,” Trump said, falsely describing the East African nation. “All they have is crime — and she comes in and tells us how to run our country.”

Trump went on to mock Omar's voice as he blasted her for seeking to uphold the Constitution.

“‘The Constitution says this, the Constitution says…’ The whole thing is crazy," the president said.

Omar, a U.S. citizen who fled Somalia’s civil war as a child, delivered a sharp clapback on X.

“Unlike you, I can read and that’s why I know what the Constitution says," Omar said.

This isn't the first time Trump has targeted Omar. The president has frequently demanded that the Democratic lawmaker “go back” to her birth country despite her decades as an American citizen. Earlier this month, Trump again called for her to “return to Somalia” in a Truth Social post.

In September, Trump also said Omar should be “impeached,” following a failed House effort to censure the Minnesota Democrat.
