Breonna Taylor’s Mom Appreciates Georgia Students Who Stood Up To Teacher

Tamika Palmer, mother of Breonna Taylor, was reportedly hurt and troubled by a Mableton, Georgia high school teacher who told students Breonna’s death was her own fault and other misinformation about the investigation into her tragic death. Palmer is also thankful that the students in the Zoom class pushed back.

Palmer’s attorney, Sam Aguiar, told TMZ Palmer watched a video of the class where Pebblebrook High School teacher Susan McCoy blamed Breonna for her own death. McCoy made the claims stating that Breonna was with someone who was wanted by police on charges, which is not true. Breonna was sleeping at the time of her death by Louisville, Kentucky police officers who raided her apartment in the early hours of March 13, 2020. She was with her boyfriend Kenneth Walker, who was not wanted for any crimes.

Aguiar reportedly said the video was hard for Palmer to watch, and found it troubling that what happened nearly a year ago to her daughter isn’t widely understood. Palmer was also wary of the false information being imposed onto the students by their teacher.

Aguiar reported, however, Palmer was proud and grateful to see the students push back against McCoy with the real facts of the case in real time.

It’s not clear what school district officials will do with McCoy, but that an internal review is underway and options are being weighed, though some have called for her termination. McCoy has publicly apologized for her comments, calling them “rude and disrespectful.”
